About us
We are one of many projects based at Mind in Camden. This is an independent charity affiliated to the national Mind mental health charity.
We exist to:
Work for and promote the preservation and safeguarding of good mental health;
Work for, promote and provide for the well-being, interests and rights of people who have mental ill health.
How we look at mental health
We seek to combat the isolation, low self-esteem and stigma that labels and diagnosis can cause, by recognising and valuing people’s own experiences and definitions of their mental health. We believe that recovery is self defined.
How we treat people
We treat people as individuals, promoting respect, dignity and recognising that people are not just recipients of services, but can add value both as service users and volunteers.
How we provide services
We promote well being by providing solution-focused services that support individual responsibility, independence, interdependence and inclusion in the wider community. We seek to constantly improve the services we and others provide by learning, training and sharing.
How we include people
We promote and respect cultural and personal understanding and diversity. We value partnership, not just with organisations, but with individuals that use, fund and provide our services.
We acknowledge and manage effectively the resulting fluidity between roles within the organisation, e.g. between the service users, volunteers and/or employees. We give people the opportunity to have a say in managing and running our projects.
